Who Is Sal Bigelow?
Sal is the small-business villain of the first act, and the show is smart enough to make him likeable. He runs Sal Bigelow's Braindance Paradise, a shop that tunes raw sensory recordings into a product, and he is the reason Roman has any money at all.
He is also the first person in the series to put a price on someone else's suffering. When Roman walks in with footage of a legendary edgerunner having a psychotic break, Sal pays 200 eddies without hesitating. That transaction is the season's moral starting point.
He is not a gangster or a corporate fixer. He is a shopkeeper in a city that has turned memory into inventory, and he is entirely comfortable with it.
Sal's Role in Edgerunners 2
In episode 1 he buys the Arasaka Industrial Park footage and tells Roman the truth about his chosen medium: nobody wants film, they want braindance, and if Roman wants to get paid he should go film Maelstrom instead. It is practical advice from a man who has already made his peace with the market.
He is the one who offers Roman the 35mm camera — the deal that sends the kid into Maelstrom territory in the first place. Every consequence in the first two episodes traces back to that offer.
Sal fades into the background once the season's real plot starts, which is appropriate. He is not a player in the Capri story; he is the ordinary economy of Night City, and the show needs one of those to make the rest of it legible.
